About the Florida Government Communicators Association
The Florida Government Communicators Association (FGCA) grew out of an
organizational meeting of city and county public information officers in
Tampa in 1987. FGCA became an official organization in 1989. The first
official board meeting was held on September 22, 1989, in Miami.
Any government communicator in the state of Florida, including
those working for city, county, school board, public utility,
water district and state agencies, may apply for membership by
submitting an application to the Board of Directors for its
determination.

Strategic Plan
FGCA's Strategic Plan provides a framework
and direction for the nonprofit association's ever-evolving course during the
coming years. The Plan addresses four strategic issues:
- Professional Development: Strengthening the value of member public information officers.
- Association and Profession Awareness: Increasing opportunities.
- Membership: Retaining and attracting creative and committed members.
- Technology: Facilitating knowledge of trends in communication technology.
