Clientele/Stakeholder Analysis

Who benefits from FGCA? Who is affected by FGCA? Stakeholder analysis represents the most critical analysis in the strategic planning process. The satisfaction of key stakeholders is critical to the success of a nonprofit organization. The strategic plan is about the interests of the stakeholders. Some stakeholders are internal such as members. Others are external and are referred to as clientele, such as citizens and the public in general.

An explanation follows that summarizes the relationships between stakeholders and clientele.

CLIENTELE
  • Florida City and County Governments - FGCA and its members serve city and county governments in Florida. FGCA only allows PIO's from local city and county governments in the state.
  • Florida Association of Counties - Associate Member: FGCA is an associate member of the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) and conducts sessions at FAC conferences.
  • Florida League of Cities: The League does not provide for associate membership such as FAC. However, FGCA attends and participates as an association at League events.
  • Citizens/Public: Citizens and the public in general obtain information from and depend upon PIO's to obtain information from local governments.
  • Media: Increasingly as GC's become an accepted position in city and county governments, the media obtains information from GC's.
STAKEHOLDERS
  • Member Government Communicators (GC's): FGCA members pay dues to the association and expect to obtain certain benefits and services from FGCA.
  • City/County Government Communicators: Other non-FGCA member GC's are eligible to become members and indirectly benefit from FGCA and other similar organizations which provide resources and visibility for the profession.
  • Consultant Government Communicators: Consultant GC's are hired by local government for specific tasks and are similar to City and County GC's in that they benefit from associations such as FGCA. They may include former or future FGCA members.
  • National GC Organizations: These organizations compete with FGCA although there may be some common interests in promoting the profession and sharing resources.
  • Members' Supervisors/City/County Managers: These management personnel both support FGCA as well as gain enhanced professional resources from FGCA's membership benefits such as educational development.
